No School - Staff Development Day

There will be no school for students tomorrow, 10/6 and Monday 10/9. Have a great weekend!

This year's Reading theme will be Medieval Times. The students had a kick off today with William the Crusader. He joined our PreK-6 classes to talk about the importance of reading. Students will have the opportunity to read this year and then be knighted when they have reached a goal. Each month classes will be in a jousting tournament to see who can read the most! At the end of the month the winner will be given a flag for their knight to hold and bragging rights of what they have accomplished.

Tomorrow is NY Thursday

DCS "Buddy Bench” donated by Student Council & DCS Junior Class. The bench is for a student that is feeling sad, left out, different, lonely etc. If other students see that someone is sitting there and needs a friend, they can go and talk to that student and help them to feel better and invite them to play or just help put a smile on their face.

College Open House Opportunities!

Drama Club will be having rehearsal this Saturday from 11:00 – 2:00.

Reminder!! After-school Program permission slips are due this Wednesday 9/27.

Attention Juniors/Seniors The Annual Greater Binghamton College Day will take place on October 18th, 2023 at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. This field trip is offered to any of our juniors or seniors. Permission slips have been given out to juniors/seniors in classes. If you have not received a permission slip and need one please see Ms. Menke asap. The bus will leave Downsville at approximately 9:30am and arrive at Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena at 11:00am. Students will need to bring money for lunch at Nirchi's Pizza and we will return to Downsville by 2:15pm. Mr. Keesler and Ms. Menke will be chaperoning this trip.

We will be conducting the PSAT School Day Administration on Thursday, October 26th 2023 this year for 11th graders. The PSAT is a practice exam - The Preliminary SAT measures what you're learning in school, determines if you're on track, and open doors for opportunities to prepare and pay for college. This test will be given during the school day. We recommend all 11th graders take the PSAT if they have plans to attend college after high school. Please return the permission slip to Ms. Menke by September 25th, 2023. Thank you!

It's NY Thursday!

Next week’s breakfast menu has a slight change. We are swapping Monday and Wednesday. Monday will now be banana splits and Wednesday will be sausage gravy over biscuits.

Students in Mrs. Champlin’s new Computer & Study Skills class started typing lessons today. They are working with covers that prevent them from seeing the keys. This will help their muscle memory and improve their accuracy and speed while typing!
