🎓 DCS is proud to announce that we are now offering the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness!
Downsville Central School has officially been approved by the New York State Education Department to offer the Seal of Civic Readiness to eligible students.
The Seal of Civic Readiness recognizes students who demonstrate a strong understanding of civic knowledge, participation, and engagement in their school and community.
📚 Students in grades 9–12 who are interested in working toward earning the Seal have received an application in Mr. Fisher and Ms. Townsend's class.
We’re excited to offer our students another opportunity to showcase their commitment to being informed, engaged, and active members of their communities! 🦅

Downsville FFA Frozen, Whole Chicken Giveaway
Downsville Central School is hosting a "Welcome Back Party" on September 17th. The Downsville FFA will have a booth set up where the community can see what we have been working on!
Furthermore, we are very excited to give away a limited number of our locally processed, frozen, whole chickens.
Community members may enter for a chance to win by submitting this google form (https://forms.gle/58A8LfEKhPrM5fSb7)
Winners will be randomly selected and notified via email on Monday September 14th from FFADownsville@gmail.com.
Winners will be allowed to pick up their frozen chicken on September 17th from 5:00 to 6:30 at the Downsville Welcome Back Party.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our program and wish all participants the best of luck.

Welcome Mrs. Vesterfelt
My name is Rachel Vesterfelt, and I am so excited to teach ELA this year at Downsville Central School.
This picture was taken with my three youngest kids while visiting Badlands National Park this summer, and captures some of what I love best—exploring our beautiful world, and spending time with my family. I was born and raised in Alaska, but have spent the last 19 years in Walton, where my husband, Christian, and I have raised our six children.
I have always loved ELA, and can’t wait to share my enthusiasm for reading, writing, and creating meaning with the students here at DCS.

Hello! My name is Megan. I was born and raised in Sidney before leaving the area for just over a decade. During that time, I lived in the Hudson Valley and Capital regions of New York, where I earned degrees in both Ceramics and Mathematics Education. I eventually returned to the tri-county area to be closer to my family, and I spend much of my free time with them.
My dog, Jasper, goes nearly everywhere with me! I also enjoy spending time outdoors, riding my motorcycle, reading, and exploring a wide variety of creative activities. I’m excited to join the DCS community and look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hello! My name is Samantha Lacey, and I’m so thrilled to be joining the team at DCS!
I have loved calling this community home since 2014. Before staying home to raise my children, I worked in a preschool setting for six years. I’m ready to hit the ground running and get back to helping young minds grow, learn, and explore the world around them.
As it’s written in the halls of DCS, “We Soar Together,” and I couldn’t be more proud to be an Eagle! 🦅
