Attention all artists and problem-solvers!

Ms. Comer is welcoming students into the Art Room on Thursdays to form an Art Club that will participate in the 2023 NYS Olympics of the Visual Arts. The Olympics of the Visual Arts is a design challenge offered by NYSATA, the New York State Art Teachers Association. Each year, the OVA committee presents a series of design problems that ask students to use research, brainstorming, and problem solving to design creative, artistic solutions to respond to a variety of challenges.  Students participating in OVA will work collaboratively to complete a design solution to present at a culminating event in Saratoga Springs, NY on April 27, 2023. At this event, a short-term design challenge will also be presented to the participating teams and awards will be given out among the various categories.

Any DCS student interested in making art, creative problem-solving, and having fun, is encouraged to take advantage of this great extra-curricular learning opportunity!

Students in grades 3-6 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00-11:30 am (during Recess) and students in grades 7-12 will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch, from 12:30-12:55. Pick up your lunch and bring it with you to the Art Room. Make sure Ms. Comer has your name on the Art Club list and stay in good academic standing. Additional meeting times for both groups will be arranged if necessary.

If you have questions about this opportunity, or other art related questions, you can send Ms. Comer an email: SComer@dcseagles.org, call her at 607-363-2100, or ask her in person when you see her around school.
