Statement of Beliefs
All Students can Learn.
We value 21st century learning, knowledge and skills that include critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation. These skills are integrated throughout our curriculum and are essential for children to succeed in college, career and citizenship.
Most importantly, at all levels of learning we strive for academic excellence and rigor by engaging student minds. Learning is designed with a focus on hands-on, mind-on, problem-solving challenges.
Our desire to become an exemplary 21st century learning community whose graduates are prepared to excel in a complex, interconnected, changing world is clearly evident in our actions and priorities.
Parental support is key to a child’s success in learning and in life, so we believe it is essential to develop strong lines of communication between home and school throughout the year. This website, in addition to our Student-Parent Portal, district Facebook page and other communication tools are valuable resources containing information on how parents can stay connected and informed with their child’s school and his/her individual academic progress.
We invite parents to be actively involved in their child’s education and we extend an invitation to the entire community to join us at school activities and events as often as possible. We value your talent, ideas, involvement, engagement and support for learning. Together, we can help Downsville Central School children achieve success!
Educationally yours,
John P. Evans
