Welcome to the DCS Principal page. My name is Mrs. Lynne VanValkenburg and I have been at DCS for almost two decades. I knew after spending time between college breaks substitute teaching at Downsville CSD, this was where I wanted to work full time. The school community, parents, and students have always been supportive and welcoming, it’s what makes DCS one of the best schools to work.
I completed my Bachelors of Science degree from SUNY Cortland in 2003 and was then hired at Delaware Academy CSD as a middle school computer teacher after completing my student teaching placement there. I was then fortunate enough to gain employment in 2004 as a first grade teacher here at DCS. The following year I transitioned to teaching Kindergarten at DCS, a position I held for the next 13 years minus a two-year special assignment as a teacher-trainer for the district’s technology program. Additionally, I served as a curriculum coordinator and LINKS facilitator for the district.
As an administrator, I spent the last 4 years filling the role of Assistant Principal. It has been a great experience to work with many of the students I taught in a different capacity while also being able to watch them learn and grow up. I’m looking forward to my new role as Principal and continuing to work with the Downsville community.
If you ever have questions or concerns, or even a positive message, I’m always willing to have a conversation or meet. I can be reached at 607-363-2111 or by email at LVanValkenburg@dcseagles.org
