Photography Club

At our last meeting, students were assigned a film camera. The club has a variety of cameras to work with – both point and shoot and SLRs. Students read their respective camera manual and learned some of the basics regarding aperture, shutter speed, and camera maintenance.

They’re currently shooting their first roll of black and white film. The next big step is getting their film developed – they’ll need to learn how to use darkroom bags, transfer their film onto a reel, and properly and safely use developer, fixer, stop bath, and Photo-Flo.

After the developing process, students will learn how to use an Epson scanner to scan/digitize their negatives and, if they choose to, alter their images using any number of photo editors.

Students are planning to volunteer and take snapshots at this year’s prom. We’re also brainstorming ideas for the June photo magazine and our first fundraiser.

Photography Club meets the first Tuesday of every month. Students are looking to add the last Tuesday of each month as well.

It’s not too late to join. We currently have eight members. If students are interested in joining, they should see Mr. Morris in room 213
