Earlier this evening Delaware County issued an executive order closing all Delaware County schools through April 14th. In compliance with this directive Downsville Central School will be closed for all students starting Monday, March 16th.
Monday & Tuesday, March 16th & 17th all staff are asked to report to school for Superintendent's conference days. DCS staff will spend this time developing plans to address the educational and related services necessary during this extended school closure.
This was a difficult decision to make considering how disruptive this closure may be to your child’s education. However, out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and safety of our students and their families, we feel this action is necessary.
The circumstances and guidance surrounding this unprecedented situation are very fluid and change almost by the hour. As a district we will do our very best to keep families informed and supported during this very challenging situation.
More specific details pertaining to this closure, the services, and supports the district will be providing will be communicated in the coming days.
